Pattern review: Little Lizard King; Laurel dress; FREE PATTERN

The idea
I wanted to make a flounce sleeved pattern for my girl. When Little Lizard King published this pattern I fell in love with it immediately.  Sewing three versions for a contest in january surely won't be the last version

The pattern
Dress with wide straps, four sleeve options, four skirt options, two (lined) bodice options

The fabric
  • ca 1.2 meter jersey from family fabrics (with flounce)
  • ca 0,5 meter jersey (piece off 75x100 cm; sleeveless)
  • ca 0,4 + 0,5 jersey for bodice and skirt resp. (short sleeves)
Cutting the fabric.

V1, I had enough fabric left for some baby onesies. Skirt was one fabric with wide (150cm). Flounces are pretty big pieces, but the straps are small and can be placed economically.

V2, A remnant. I had half a piece of fabric left, from the middle of the fabric to the selvedge (from small to bigger dots) ca 75 cm and the length was 100 cm. The skirt is therefore 100 cm in circumference. Bodice and straps from the remaining fabric. All parts are cut double for lining and are less exact to be on pattern (or can be made from a lining knit fabric)

V3, Remnants for striped bodice. Front bodice and straps are placed on pattern (diagonal). Other pieces are cut economically. Skirt is a full fabric width of ca 150 cm circumference.

Instructions:
LLK has very elaborate instructions very suitable for the beginning seamstress, with general sewing tips on different stitches, costum sizing andsoforth

Fit:
Is as expected. Size 6 for my girl fits perfect. Size 7 is a bit big as the straps fall off, especially because the flounce sleeve is a bit heavy.

Conclusion:
Love love the pattern, will definitely make more.
