About me

Hi, my name is Marijke, or Mijke (pronounced Mike) for my friends. I hope you have a wonderful day. If not, I hope my blog can brighten your troubles a bit.

I grew up with a mom that sewed for her and her two girls (and mended my dads jeans over and over). We always looked special at carnival/Halloween. Where other kids were again a clown or a nurse, my sis and I were the latest Disney princes. Growing up I promised I would learn to sew as soon as I got kids. I started in 2015 and my daughter was born in 2018.

My grandmother sewed for her and her three daughters after WWII. because it was a necessity. Buying clothes from warehouses or stores was a luxury they (and a lot of people) didn't have. She passed on her sewing spark to only one of the daughters (my mum). Of the four granddaughters only I sew.

And as for the fourth generation, three great granddaughters, we will have to see. Of course my toddler daughter is interested in everything I do. Hopefully she will find her happiness, success and love in life. I hope I play a part in that and perhaps sewing as well.

That makes 4 generations of girls. We have seen so many changes, difficulties and made so many happy memories. Sewing has been a necessity, a hobby, a way of expressing ourselves and therapy. I hope my journey will bring a smile on your faces.
