Pattern review: Little Lizard King; Maui swimsuit

 

How cute is this? I really like this pattern, it is easy, quick to make and looks amazing. 

The pattern

Maui swimsuit. One and two piece swimsuit. Bow back bodice. Lined front.

Option: Flutter sleeve, puff sleeve or sleeveless. 

Option: Leg flutter.

Additional info:

• 12 M -  14 Y (US). I will make size 5. The one piece, sleeveless, leg flutter option. Also I will line the back.
• Recommended Fabrics : Swimwear + swimwear lining. 
  
• Unrated. Instructions are fairly okay. Swimwear fabric works like jersey, swimwear lining is very thin and needs a bit of experience

The fabric

• ca 0,3 meter fabric, Lycra/spandex (a piece of fabric about 90 cm x 50 cm)
• ca 0,3 meter lining, lycra tulle mesh

Instructions:

Instructions are SUPER elaborated. It starts with 25 pages of general information, general tips, blending sizes, working with swimwear fabric and the like. I love Little Lizard Kings instructions as they are catered to the very beginning seamstress. If you are a bit more experienced, it can take a little bit of time to find the specific instructions you need (fabric and elastic requirements for example.

Fit:

At size 5 it is a bit too big on her now, but she will grow into it. Sizing is as expected. 

Conclusion:

Blue one on the way, more versions foreseen in the future.
