Pattern review: Burda 8/2020 leggings 132 nr 4&5

Number 4 and 5. The fabrics are leftovers of my mums shirt and my sis's dress. Perfect for leggings for my girl.

The pattern

How pretty and sparkly! Lurex makes these leggings special, and the comfy wide waistband plays a supporting role.

Additional info:
  • 98-122 (EU)   3-7 (US). I made a 104 (4y) for my 2,5 yo
  • Recommended fabrics: Jersey with elastane. Use two-way stretch fabrics only.
  • Rated 1/4
  • Burda 8/2020 or download here
The fabric
  • ca 0,4 m cotton jersey with paint brush stripes from naaiplezier.nl
  • ca 0,4 m cotton jersey with polkadot bought at stoffenspektakel.
Cutting the fabric.
This size needs to be 40 cm wide as one leg is one piece, so that is a relative wide part. The paint stripies wasn't wide enough, I cut it in two pieces.

Instructions

It's a very easy sew. Sew the center seams (on the bum and on the belly). Then sew the innerleg seam. Add waistband.

Fit:
I made a 104 (4yo) and it is not as big as other 4yo sizes I've made. It is a pretty good fit as it is. If you have a larger or taller kid, maybe hem the legs after fitting.

Pattern doesn't ask for a elastic in the waistband so make it from a fabric with good recovery. I did add an elastic band in these leggings, next version will have a special waistband elastic.

Conclusion
Hey, quick leggings become a favorite. I never thought I would like to make something that is so easy to buy. Love how you can use up your scraps or make something really coordinating.
