Pattern review: Burda 8/2020 leggings 132 nr 2&3

I've made these leggings before and they are quickly becoming my go to legging pattern. They don't have an outer leg seam making it an even quicker sew. I want to optimalise the waistband even further. The waistband did not stay up with my first leggings and I added a elastic band later. Next pair of leggings will get a wider elastic band making it a bit more comfortable.

The pattern

How pretty and sparkly! Lurex makes these leggings special, and the comfy wide waistband plays a supporting role.

Additional info:
  • 98-122 (EU)   3-7 (US). I made a 104 (4y) for my 2,5 yo
  • Recommended fabrics: Jersey with elastane. Use two-way stretch fabrics only.
  • Rated 1/4
  • Burda 8/2020 or download here
The fabric
  • ca 0,5 m vintage pink jersey from budgetstoffen.nl
  • ca 0,5 m floral jersey from stoffen-online.nl

sew front and back center seam.

Sew inner leg seam

Add waistband.

I added some elastic in the waistband to help keep it up.

Instructions

It's a very easy sew. Sew the center seams (on the bum and on the belly). Then sew the innerleg seam. Add waistband.

Fit:
I made a 104 (4yo) and it is not as big as other 4yo sizes I've made. It is a pretty good fit as it is. If you have a larger or taller kid, maybe hem the legs after fitting.

Pattern doesn't ask for a elastic in the waistband so make it from a fabric with good recovery. I did add an elastic band in these leggings, next version will have a special waistband elastic.
