Pattern review: Fibre Mood #11; heaven dress.

I do knit, like on actual needles and stuff, but I lack the patience most times. I love to knit my girl some sweaters and in the thickest wool possible. When I saw this big knit fabric I fell in love. It takes a bit of getting used to and will not work in all patterns, but I love how it worked out in here.

The sleeves have a dart at the shoulder that is difficult to make in this big knit. Darts are difficult in this fabric since it will not sew smoothly into the smaller part of the dart. The darts in the waist and the shoulder do not look terribly, but the darts on the shoulder have a lump at the end of the dart.

I love the outcome though. The pattern is gorgeous and I definitely will make it into a fabric that will show of its lines even better. I also love the fabric. It is very comfortable and warm. I love how these two combined, especially in the back where the lines of the knit create a V-shape.

The pattern

Talk about a head-turner! With it's figure hugging shape and statement sleeves, Heaven is sure to make you stand out in a crowd. The princess seams and invisible side zip give it the perfect fit. The neckline and top of the sleeves create a striking trapezium, which is a lovely contrast with the sleeves’ puffed wrists. The only thing left to do is dazzle in your handmade dress.

Heaven looks best in heavier, more structured fabrics. Anything to thin or fluid will be difficult to shape properly. Tencel and cotton (denim or poplin, for example) all work wonderfully.

Pattern instructions
Fibre Mood is a magazine, but has very elaborate (picture) instructions. On their site you can see the written instructions (to see for everybody, so take a look if you are interested)

look at the lines in the back.

Fit
I made a EU48, but because of the knitted fabric it's a bit difficult to say if the pattern is big or small. The previous 2 dresses I made from FM ended up a bit smaller than the finished garment chart suggested.

Conclusion
I think the lines of the pattern will look even more beautiful in a different fabric, so yes, I will definitely make this again, Perhaps in a striped fabric as well.
