Sew along: Fibre Mood #6; Legend coat
The idea
I bought this super bright and busy floral rib which has a little bit stretch. Since the fabric is a bit sturdier I thought it would look good in a denim jacket style.
The pattern
Twinning is winning! The Legend Jacket for kids is the adorable mini version of our Drew Jacket. Brave the autumn weather together in a trendy corduroy jacket! The Legend pattern is a cropped jacket and features two chest pockets, a cool collar and practical snaps. Want to wear the jacket in the winter too? Line the collar with a cosy wool fabric, so that you leave the house looking cute and comfortable.
Additional info:
- 2-14yo (US), I use the size 4yo
- Recommended fabrics: corduroy, cotton and denim
- rated 3/5
- Fibre mood #6 or here: Fibre mood site
- ca 0,7 meter cotton rib with a bit stretch
Cutting the fabric.
Since I used a small portion of this fabric for the lining of a cotton-rib pair of overalls, I really had to squize the pattern pieces. The main jacket pieces form a straight jacket and so the pattern pieces can be placed next to each other with minimal waste.
Oeeeh can you see details :). Front is made out of three vertical panels and a yoke. |
The middle panel has a pocket and a pocket flap. |
The back had a center and two side panels and one yoke. |
Collar with stand. |
Attached the collar and topstitched all seams. |
Insert sleeves. Attach sleeve bands and hem. |
Aaahhhh, if this doesn't cheer anybody up :) |
Waiting for the denim buttons to finish the coat. |
