Sew along: Fibre Mood #6; Legend coat

The idea

I bought this super bright and busy floral rib which has a little bit stretch. Since the fabric is a bit sturdier I thought it would look good in a denim jacket style.

The pattern
Twinning is winning! The Legend Jacket for kids is the adorable mini version of our Drew Jacket. Brave the autumn weather together in a trendy corduroy jacket! The Legend pattern is a cropped jacket and features two chest pockets, a cool collar and practical snaps. Want to wear the jacket in the winter too? Line the collar with a cosy wool fabric, so that you leave the house looking cute and comfortable.

Additional info:
  • 2-14yo (US), I use the size 4yo
  • Recommended fabrics: corduroy, cotton and denim
  • rated 3/5
  • Fibre mood #6 or here: Fibre mood site
The fabric
  • ca 0,7 meter cotton rib with a bit stretch
Cutting the fabric.

Since I used a small portion of this fabric for the lining of a cotton-rib pair of overalls, I really had to squize the pattern pieces. The main jacket pieces form a straight jacket and so the pattern pieces can be placed next to each other with minimal waste.

Oeeeh can you see details :). Front is made out of three vertical panels and a yoke.

The middle panel has a pocket and a pocket flap.

The back had a center and two side panels and one yoke.

Collar with stand.

Attached the collar and topstitched all seams.

Insert sleeves. Attach sleeve bands and hem.

Aaahhhh, if this doesn't cheer anybody up :)

Waiting for the denim buttons to finish the coat.
