Patern review: Gertie's charm pattern; Swing coat.

I love it and got a good wear out of it already. Now hanging beautifully in my wardrobe waiting for fall.

The pattern
Meet the Swing Coat! Inspired by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, this snuggly topper is just the thing to round out your wardrobe. I love the bell-shaped sleeves and chunky cuffs paired with the swingy shape; it just feels so dramatically luxorious to wear! The funnel-shaped neckline makes this project quick and easy to sew, so the coat comes together in a jiffy. Make it full length with in-seam pockets (extra points for making a dress to match your lining) or hip-length with cute patch pockets. This project can suit a variety of climates and seasons depending on your fabric choice: make it in cotton for a swingy beach jacket or in snuggly wool for a winter topper (read my tips in the instructions for making it even warmer with interlining). Don’t forget to watch the video to see how it comes together!

Additional info:
  • 2-20 and two bust sizes (A-H). I'll make a 16 D-H. (Gertie''s patterns run bigger than Big 4)
  • Recommended Fabrics : wool, velvets
  • easy (my rating) not only is pattern fairly easy, Gertie provides clear written instructions as well as video's.
  • Part of Patreon.
The fabric
  • ca 2,5 meter wool from Textielstad (stretch flauch color rosewood
  • ca 2 meter vintage cotton (1970) for lining (bodice)
  • ca 0,5 meter lining (for sleeves)

Instructions:
Gerties instructions are always very well and nice to read. Her Patreon videos are very elaborate and educational.

Fit:
Very well and warm. Sleeves are pretty long and I had to fold them all the way back. It is a very forgiving fit.

Conclusion:
I'm making it again for my sis and I will make it as a swimsuit cover.
