The idea
Stripey voile is perfect for this pattern. I'll play with the lines .
The pattern
Here is one where a bit of
extra time is well spent!
The trim is placed for
great effect on this airy
A-line dress sewn with an
embroidered cotton
batiste for a sure-fire
summer favourite. You will
be pleasantly surprised at
how easily the extra
details come together.

The fabric
Cutting the fabric.
The front of the dress is one fairly large piece. The back is one piece as well. I had enough fanric left to play with the straps and the bodice to folow the lines like I wanted to.
Straps are interfaced and sewn together. Turned and ironed well.
Sew the front bodice part together with the straps between them. I understitched the lining of the bodice the seam allowance and the straps. (left part in the picture)
It keeps the lining from peeking out while wearing it.
I did the same for the back bodice.
I finished the under arm parts of the dress with a piece of bias tape.
Gather the front dress and sew to the bodice. Topstitch the lining to the bodice. Love stripy fabric as it makes it very easy to get straight lines.
Same for the back. The opening will hold a placket.
Didn't cut a placket for the back closure. I decided to try some biastape.
Doesn't look to bad. I wished I counted the snaps first before putting them on. Only had one closed snap left.
The tape is strong enough for the snaps. I like this.
Small hem, not quite a baby hem yet, but small enough.
Aagghhh fun and summery.
