Pattern review: Fibre Mood 9 - Norma blouse
This Norma blouse is very romantic and looks really nice. It is a bit shorter than I'm used to so I have to look through my wardrobe for high-waisted garments to match.
Sleeves that stand out are in! And Norma knows that being big can be better. The lavish three-quarter length balloon sleeves are full at the shoulders, have puffed wrists and gathered seams. This original short V-neck blouse effortlessly steals the show when paired with a high waisted skirt, jeans or trousers.
All kinds of fabrics work, but it goes without saying that your statement sleeves will stand out more in a stiffer fabric, such as poplin, raw silk, nylon, organza, etc. Also, organza blouses worn with a spaghetti strap top underneath are a huge trend right now. Would you still prefer a lighter fabric? You can turn the Norma into something a little flowier and less ‘big’ by choosing a cotton voile, muslin or a thin viscose.
- cotton, brand qjutie kids, 100% katoen / 130 gr/m² /OEKO-TEX® Standard 100
- I used 1,5 meter for this blouse and for my girl's dress. I had to cut the sleeves shorter.
Pattern instructions
Fibre Mood has elaborate instructions, but only the diagrams and pictures are printed in the magazine. For most, these are sufficient. The written instructions and the fabric lay-out are available on their site. So compared to other magazines (like Burda) Fibre Mood has more complete and easier instructions.
As the pattern is a bit looser in the bust area I find the fit comfortable enough. It is a short pattern, but that is shown in their line drawings as well
