Tips: what to do with scraps - quilt blocks.

As I am sewing I try to keep my stash organized by working through the scraps as soon as the project is finished. When there is enough left for a garment, either small or kids size, I will bring it back to my fabric bins.
The smaller parts are cut up as I go. I have found a lovely bird quilt block (by Tilda) that is quick to sew and looks amazing. I have cut up all the 'colored' parts from carton and I can quickly trace and cut out these 5 parts. For the 'white' parts I need a bit more fabric. I had some light colored remnants that I cut up into pieces large enough for the background.
I save up the parts for a evening when I feel like sewing something easy. These blocks can be stored easier than scraps. I haven't made something out of it yet, but sewing these blocks together to form a blanket or table runner or any other piece is easy enough.
I even do it with my knit fabrics. I iron fusible interfacing to the back so the fabric doesn't stretch anymore and works better in a quilt.
